Core stability
The core describes the mid-section of the body from the pelvis to the ribcage. Core stability is
the ability to hold your trunk firm so that you have a strong and stable base from which to move safely and effectively.
Benefits of Core stability
- Improves functional movement patterns
- Promotes joint stabilisation
- Reduces risk of injury
- Muscular strength and endurance benefits by more efficient use of power
Osteoporosis:
-
Increases in bone density reduce the risk of osteoporosis and helps prevent fractures. Optimal strength
development requires load intensities that are progessively increased. Therefore a regular weight bearing exercise can help
increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
